Fixed disposal points and inefficient waste segregation

is costing you money!

If it is made easy for your staff to segregate waste - they will!

The Health Technical Memorandum 07 - 01 (Safe management of healthcare waste, Department of Health, 2013.) Indicates that;

"For waste segregation systems to work effectively it is important that staff be provided with the necessary training, support and equipment, including colour coded and labelled waste receptacles. The location and positioning of waste receptacles is critical in meeting the requirements of work practice."

Below are examples that contrary to these recommendations, waste receptacles are often positioned at the periphery of the rooms.

In a busy and often very demanding clinical environment, healthcare staff will often fail to segregate waste effectively and will often use the nearest or easiest receptacle to dispose of all their rubbish. This often manifests itself in all or most of the waste generated going into infectious or offensive receptacles, when much of this could be classified as domestic or recyclable.

THIS CAN ADD £1000s TO YOUR DISPOSAL COSTS!
